In recent years, the application of plastic materials in the medical equipment industry has gradually attracted attention. The development of the following six materials is highly valued:
1. Decrypt artificial collagen fibers
Recently, Rice University scholars published two articles that explain the in-depth understanding of collagen fibers and how they use sticky ends to self-assemble. Further research could lead to better artificial collagen for tissue engineering for cosmetic and medical reconstruction.
2. Making biodegradable orthopedic materials
German scientists have recently been busy carrying out prospective research on biodegradable orthopedic materials, which are strong enough to be used as suture rivets.
3. Can be used as open hole silicone resin for medical equipment
Open-celled silicone made using a new production process is biocompatible, chemically stable and sterile, making it suitable for short-and long-term implantation.

5. Degradable strong material
Material strength is a limitation of many absorbable biomaterials. Despite the prior considerable strength, their durability decreases rapidly over time. A company called NovusScientific in Uppsala, Sweden, is trying to solve this problem with a new material that weaves two degradable polymers together to form a surgical mesh fabric that can support tissue for 6-9 months.
6. Initiating innovative shape memory polymers
WalterE Voit, an associate professor of bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas, says shape-changing thiophene/propylene polyesters could open up a whole new dimension for a wide range of medical devices.
